Two Questions;
Looking for recommendations on good odor removing products for the wonderful aroma of a ram. The hair is chock full of debris and leaf matter. Should thorough removal be done after mounting or before? I want to put as little stress on the hair as possible. The cape has already been tanned. THANKS!

First things first. Lay the hide out flat (on a solid surface) and hose it down. Pour on a cup full of Dawn or strong soap and wash the hide with your hands. Rinse it off. Pour on a cheap hair conditioner (I buy mine by the gallon at Sally's Beauty Supply). Let it set for between 15 and 20 minutes. Now comes the good part.
With a pressure washer, wash the hide from the nose to the back of the hide. Make a conscious effort to go back and forth across the hide as you work rearward. This will untangle most of your tangles as well as rid it of debis. When you finish, wash the hide one last time in a bucket with Downey fabric softener. Rinse it out, towel it off and mount. Goat smell will be gone with the burrs.
