BLACK BEAR patching

Submitted by Ron on 3/22/06 at 10:52 PM. ( ) 66.218.28.50

Hi I mounted a black bear, that when the guides skinned it they cut a quarter size whole in the snout, right where the bround hair meets the black. I use the patch that they cut off, but due to the short hair I can still see the patch. Any ideas on what I can do to help conceal the patch? Thanks, ron

Ron, You don't need to call me

In the past, I've repaired these things several ways. Usually by using a wrap stitch from the skin side and a little judiciously applied airbrush work will make it less obvious. And the more severe ones, I got out my black and my gold flocking. I painted around the seam with some fast drying epoxy. Then I'd take a pinch of black flock and blow it on to the glue. If the transition area was gold, I'd add just a bit of that color the same way The glue applied thinly and the very fine flocking just cover the stitching and don't overwhelm the short hairs in that area.

Laurier, I'm sorry, but it pisses me off with the "call me" crap. Many questions posted here are shared by many others who read but never engage in a post. Those people would like an answer as well and if they won't ask here, they won't call you either. This site is for SHARING information and I consider it ill-mannered the way you seem to want to keep your advice secretive. If advice is worth sharing with one person, it would seem valuable enough to share with everyone.

George-Thanks
