I have already set the horns for two exotic sheep to the form. Around the base of the core and the horn there is need for rebuilding. As these are my first sheep, is there a standard procedure for rebuilding and mounting the hide in this area? The hides are professionally tanned and with my deer I have very little shrinkage. I am curious of anything to be aware of before I actually mount them. Any comments are appreciated, God Bless, Lance

Re-build by adding material (mache if it is a fair amount) to raise the base of the core where the skin will rest up to a 1/4" below your horn edge; make a smooth transition onto the skull plate.
When the mache is dry and you are ready to mount, place a roll of sculpall 1/4" thick around the base of the horn and imbed you skin edge in it; feather this out under the skin to the mache and the horn edge.
Another option is to do your rebuilding with sculpall and use a good epoxy hide past over that to lock in the skin.
The idea ides to get the edge of the skin and the edge of horn on the same plane so that you cannot feel the edge where the two meet.
Thank you, Lance
