When it comes to painting a deer. i dont like how it says mix 40% of 701 with 30% 302 and 30% 405 to paint the inner nose or whatever. why dosnt anyone pre mix a deers inner nose a deers ears and the color arond the eyes. so all we have to do is shake and paint.
Is it because everyone has their own way of doing things. BY THE WAY I JUST MADE UP THOSE NUMBERS I DONT KNOW WHAT THE % are for each of the colors for the deer parts are.

John,I don't try to mix colors anymore because what one taxidermist says matches white for the whitetails white colors looks bluish to me.So ,I just do one layer at a time until I'm satisfied it looks correct. The above comment on the white comes from trying Dennis Behns color mixture for white,it comes out bluish.Everybodies got their own recipes,ya just gotta go with what you feel looks natural.
Try Polytranspar from WASCO and you're only asked to count the drops. If you're using the 1/4 ounce mixing cup, I don't know how you'd ever get 30% figured out on a tapered flask. I have enough trouble balancing the checkbook, I don't need a paint that expects me to be physicist.
Hi,
I have a question about the "blue-ish" look around the eye. Everytime I spray the white around the eye (whitetail) it turns out this color. I have tried about three different brands of paints and it is still blue ish. Why in the heck can't you just spray a white and have it stay white? What I usually do is get ticked off, clean everything with laquer thinner and then finish the eye will oil paints. I would really, REALLY like to know what the secret is to getting rid of this bluish tint problem.
Thanks,
Mark
Polytranspar is the only way to fly. Mixing paints formula is for the walls and ceiling, so to speak. Blending on the specimen to me allows much more room for slight errors, not to mention deepth in my finish piece. As for the bluish tint if one of your colors is paynes grey or a blending black that may be it.
Polytranspar has a few colors that you can use striaght from the bottle, whitetail ear light, dark etc. etc.
Hope it helps
to Jonas brand pink for the lower lip and eye area. I then tone ot down with some white for the ears as i find the straight a bit to bright.it also works well for the inner nostrels of you dont use colored sculpt.
