what is the correct color for antlers on arctic island(peary) caribou. the photos i have of actual arctic island caribou show them as white as caribou antlers are when they dry. while this may be correct it will not make an attractive mount.

All of the caribou that I've seen coming off the snow pack either have red antlers from the peeling velvet or white antlers. Their lifestyles around water, snow and ice rub all the blood that would normally stain the antler off. When that happens, as in whitetail, they would regain color by rubbing on firs or pines and get stains that way. The arctic ice, however, offers NOTHING for them to take frustration out on. No trees, consequently, no color.
