George, got another question for you

I recently posted a question regarding the Ibex horns.

after looking them over the mannikin or method needed to decently mount them resolved itself (for the most part)

my question is that i looked thru the archives and your method suggested to help with returning the color/luster to at least a natural tone was a 50/50 mix of linseed oil and turpentine. does this guidance apply to Ibex horns as well?

secondly, these babies are MUMMIFIED to the skull plate (with hide still on it of course) will the standard soaking process work to seperate the horns from the cores? just using extended periods of course?

thanx in advance

Those guys have to be simmered. Ibex horns aren't going to make that any easier with finding a pot big enough. As for the 50/50, I'd use it without hesitation. It works on all horns and antlers in my opinion.
