Make a long story short, I took the best deer of my life and the cape slipped under the care of my life long taxidermist (faulty freezer). My taxidermist mounted my deer with another 7" x 25" cape without talking to me about it first. A cape that size if rare, but the one he used has a very obvious double white throat. It is the first thing people notice about the deer. Is there any possbile way to dye the white hair on the lower patch to make the cape look like the whitetail I shot? I know the hairs are multy colored and it would take alot of time, but it would be worth it to me. Thanks and please tell me what you would do in my position.

He could airbrush with some tan or light brown-but he would have to mist it so it wouldn't be too dark.I have some of my own mounts with double white throat patches,I think there pretty cool.
What kind of paint are you using? Transpar or Hydromist won't stick to hair, you can brush it out.
The original cape is gone; there will be other deer to shoot in the future. Double patch deer are hard to come by and I would love to get one or two in that size. If I were you, I would like to think that I had something to brag about with the double white patch. Even if it was not the original deer cape. Many guys marry girls that are not in original condition, and accept them that way, so you can get over a different deer cape.
