I found a big buffalo skull while on a hunt and I want to Euro mount it. It is mostly cleaned but still has some really dried flesh and hair on it also one of the ears is still on there. What can I do to clean this and make it stop smelling?

Jake, To remove the hard dried on flesh from a skull I would first soak it in plain water to soften the dried meat. Once softened you can cut away most with a knife and then place the whole thing in plastic bags to allow the remainder to sweat and rot away. This works pretty well in warm weather. After a week or so check it over and wash away the slimmy stuff with a hose pipe. You may need to rebag for a few more weeks to get it all done but eventually it will be pretty clean. Then soak a week in water with LOTS of Dawn diswashing detergent in it. The skull will improve greatly in the smell department. You can then sun whiten it or peroxide whiten it. Lots of info on this under the orange "search" button. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Not sure I would bag it. That will just make the smell worse with more rotting tissue. I would use beetles to clean it, then bleach it out. You can still soad it to soften the tissue then a day or two with the beetles to clean it off and a couple more days of bleach and you'll be done.
