Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me a rule of thumb on the angle for elk antlers? I have looked in the achieves and have not found any answers for elk.

when you are attatching the skull plate, if the proper angle is achieved to match up to your manikin, the antlers should be at the right angle. Hope this helps and enjoy.
i know that is not what you asked for but
make sure youve got room
Darryl, Often the skull plate is cut incorectly by hunters field dressing their elk. You can not depend on the angle of this cut so you have to adjust accordingly. For the most part I look at the top of the skull plate and set the antlers so that the skull line of the top of the skull sits about 3/8" lower than the mannikin in the front and where the skull when viewed from the side seems to follow a line compatible with the shape of the form. Finally, I would look at several photos of bulls which have racks similar in size to the one you are mounting. Angle of antlers does vary widely just as with deer but there is a range of "normal" and that is where i like to be. Sometimes the hunter will have a good photo if you are much in question as in the case of unusual antlers. As Paule said you must keep in mind wall clearance but other than minor correction for wall clearance any big problems there should be corrected with form alteration. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Thanks and I did have to do form alteration so that the antlers would not hit the wall. Thanks again
if you get a chance when you take a elk in the shop a good tip is to always measure you burr to tip of nose and burr to ear take measurments you cant go wrong and use refrence
