Is it realy neccasary to paint the hole mount-- it makes it look very artificial. Can't you use common leather shoe polish(wax)?
Off course i'm not talking about the eyes, nose, mouth & ears.

I use Jonas Bros African Paint and it doesn't look bad. You have to do alot of blending but it turns out fine. Im not sure what color shoe polish would work to get the color right. Id try it on a small piece of hide first to see what you come up with.

would not use shoe polish. Try different colors of hydro mist and blend and rub off excess and off of the hair. Use flesh tones first before any grays or browns. A tanned wart hog hide has a yellowish color to it that is not really seen on a live one. A live hog has pinkish tones to the skin under all that dirt, mud etc.. Look at reference and do not forget to add some dirt or cement powder to the hog as a final touch. They are never clean. If it looks painted you are probably putting on too much paint. Do not forget about all the dark wet stained area under the eyes. I have used paint and gloss for this or a little tanning oil on the skin. Good luck.

that l have been able to produce are achieved with the combination of white calking thinned down with water, then tinted up with hydromist dark brown. The mix is almost a cocoa brown color.
Use a sponge and dab the mix on, wait a few minutes depending on temp, and rough towel the excess off the hair and whisker whites. With practice you can get a finish similar to the original epidermis, without all the glossy /shiny patches that regular paints give. The thicker the mix the heavier the texture.
The more brown the darker the finish
l have done complete warthogs this way, and if you wish to fade out the shoulder brisket area, use a towel damped up with water, and blend down the effect by lightly rubbing back
.Give it a try,,, you will like it.
