I have a request for antler mounts on Black Walnut plaques. I've searched Ebay and only found rough slabs. How much do black walnut plaques usually go for? Thanks.

Try walnut creek hardwood. They have them the same price as oak about $16 and lazer ewngraved.
Try Ozark Woods the best in the business.
Both of these places offered awsome products but no black walnut anything. I understand that black walnut anything is kind of hard to find. This probably means that they will be fairly expensive. Do you know of anyone else that might make them?
We offer all of our panels in American black walnut or American red oak. Our prices are the same for both. Feel free to checkout our website at www.walnutcreekhardwood.com or call 800-945-9663 with any questions you may have.
Thanks,

They offer walnut panels as well.
You need to watch it these are two different types. Almost all panel suppliers you will find have a natural walnut finish this gives the true color of the wood and sometimes a darker tone also but it will not be black. A "Black Walnut finish" on the otherhand is used in furniture,pictureframes,ect.. to give a "always way dark"walnut look to products made out of other types of wood. I have at least three items in my house a bed frame, table, and dresser that are black walnut finished yet none are made of walnut in fact one of them is ash. Watch it you'll be paying for the color not the material on items done this way because they can use MUCH cheaper wood types than walnut.
My customer doesn't want black walnut finish, he wants actual black walnut. I've spoken to him again and he was very clear that walnut stained dark is not black walnut. He was a forester who over the years, collected black walnut trees from timber that he cut. After he had a barn full of Black walnut trees, he took it to a flooring mill where he had the guy make him some six inch flooring for his entire house. The real black walnut is not all black inside. It consist of a black core and then "layers" of light or white colored wood. When the wood is cut down, the outcome is a swirl effect of dark walnut and light walnut that is just absoluetly georgeous. He's willing to pay top dollar for it, if I can find it. Any body have anyother sources?
I like using wood that comes from where the animal came from; axis deer from Hawaii= Koa wood, Ocellated turkey= Ziricote, etc, etc. You might have to do a search for "Exotic Lumber" and then take the lumber to a cabinet maker. Good luck!
his floor youll need to get a picture of the wood paterns in the floor. Send them to anybody that does custom work or is willing to look at them and see if they can fix you up. To get the type of panel and paterns in the wood you are talking about whoever makes it will need to see the floor itself or a very good photo. The companys refered to above do use the wood you are looking for but the lighter paterns are cut out or stained to match the rest.
what style are you looking for? I make custom plaques in my wood shop for customers all the time, I have a bunch of black walnut, let me know exactly what you want and I can give you a price. All my plaques are solid wood with a clear coat finish. I do not stain to achieve the look of another wood.thanks todd
...And tell them that you want black walnut with the sap wood(white outer wood). You shouldn't have to pay top dollar either. The black walnut with the sapwood is generally considered scrap. I'll bet Frank would be happy to make up whatever you want using pieces with sapwood. You're right about it having a striking appearance. My Library/Trophy room is tongue and groove Black Walnut and the few pieces that have sapwood are outstanding.
What would you charge for regular size whitetail antler plaques?
What do you consider regular size? 10x12 like McKenzie sells?
That size would work great. How much and how many could you make? I have about 10 sets for him.
hey steve email me and I will give you a call, and go from there since I'm not on here all the time.thanks todd
