First time this happened!

I was mounting a deer head last night and when I went to screw down the skull plate, the screw went into the form like butter. There wasn't a wood block on the skull area of the form. It was a Meder form from McKenzie. So, that slowed me down a bit while I cut away the foam and glued down a new piece of wood.

I have used only Meder forms since they came out and I have never had this happen.

It's not the FORM, it's the builder

I've had this happen several times over the years from various suppliers. If you've ever seen a mold being used, you'd know that the person doing the foaming installs the antler plate in the mold, pours the foam and then installs the backboard either prior to foaming or immediately on pouring the foam in. Has nothing to do with the name on the mold. It's the guy pouring foam.

It could have fell out.

Like George said, People actualy add the wood parts (eyes on presets) to the mold prior to adding the foam. It is very possable that the block is floating somewhere in the form. I belive the antler plates are instaled and the form is positioned so the back board is facing up. I have never seen it done but I am sure the antler plate could fall out with ease.
