I'm trying to figure the best way to hang an elk head. If I use lag bolts screwed into the stud how do I then attach the back of the mount? Should I drill a hole large enough to receice the back of the hex bolt and then have it slide down on the hole with a narrow slot cut just above the hole on the wood of the mount itself? Do you think that this first method is better than a heavy wire I could attach on the mount? Just afraid that it will not be too stable that way. First time doing this! I appreciate your suggestions.

are you in a hurry? If not try a heavy duty hanger, I think McKenzie or WASCO has them. You could try the hole method but I would hate to see that head hit the floor! Im trying to figure out if your the taxidermist or the customer! Good Luck!

level rite hanger, any supply co. carries them. They fit perfectly on a 5/16 lag bolt.
McKenzie sells them.
I use "The Noose" hanger for everything. They work great and are less than $1 a piece.
Which hangar do you use McKenzie has an assortment.
Thanks for the tip, but I'm trying to identify one that someone has established a good track record with...
Thanks
