I was buying a red deer wall pedestal, (can only find 1), but it cant get sent to oz at the affordable rate, only usp or fedx.
I was sure i read in the archs some time back about converting a shoulder mount form into a wall pedestal form?
Anyhow, I cant seem to find it. I have used a combination of words for the search.
Can anyone point me to the thread or describe the steps please.
(or does anyone have a red deer w/ped @ 9 x 24 they can sell me and send usps?)

The antlers on the red deer are going to make it somewhat "top heavy" to begin with and the reduced surface of the wall pedestal may require one of the specialty hangers.
Still, it's a rather simple process. On the backboard, inscribe a gently "S" arc on the side you want removed. Cut through the backboard and carefully remove that portion of the board only. Now, with a furriers rasp, Stout Ruffer, or SurFoam tool, start carving away at the foam until you dish out the area up to a maximum of about 6 or 8 inches on the form. Once you have it smoothed out to the contour you're looking for, inscribe a cut line about 1/4 inch inside the form so that you can tuck your backing material as well as the deer cape and make a flawless seam. I use doeskin to cover my pedestals and I simply apply hide paste to the dished out area and upholster it. I staple the skin to the backboard where I can, but tuck the rest. You might want to save that step for last as it's often easier and cleaner on your doeskin than taking the chance of the hide tucking messing your leather up.
Yes, i was worried about the top heaviness, but i want to do something 'different' for my customer display area and since its my own deer i could experiment a little.
Thankyou for your easy to understand description George.
