First post here...
I'm going on my first caribou hunt in September and have been looking at my mount options. I love the looks of the wall pedestals, but I've never seen a caribou mounted this way. Is there such a thing, can it be done?
I've got several whitetails on the wall and this kind of a once in lifetime hunt for me. I'm just looking for something unique and different for the mount. I don't really have the space for a regular pedestal. Any other ideas?
Thanks much for your responses...

it can be done but , the antler will more then likely hit the wall, so the manikin will , so this will cost you more.
If you like something unique, my opinion would be to go with a standard wall mount, but have your taxidermist incorporate some sort of habitat with the mount. This is hard to explain, but you can have a small habitat scene built into your wall hanging mount and this adds a lot to the visual appeal. For a caribou you could include some rocks, lichens, moss, some sort of tundra style flowers and that would help tell the story of your hunt, all the while giving you something that will hang on your wall with no form modification needed. For me to add the habitat would be considerably cheaper than to custom alter a form to a wall pedistal.
Just my thoughts.
Thanks gentlemen. I'm meeting with a new taxidermist this week to discuss. I sure like this guys work, and even a standard wall mount will be OK if I can't find something else I like.
