Do you mean barn wood?

I am really not as backwards as my spelling is. Yes it's barn wood and to correct the other miss spelled words, "recommend" and "securing"
Sorry

Here's 1 way, bondo a wood block into the back of skull and put on a hanger or screw directly into block.

I thought about that

but do you then paint the bondo the same color as the skull or cover it with moss? because the skull is held away from the mounting surface by several points, teeth and bones.

wire

try running a pc of wire thru the small holes on each side of the big brain stem hole, just make a loop and hang it on the wood,if this isn't feasible run the wire on thru the wood and cut a slot for the wire to lay in ,bend it over and staple or screw it fast, another option is a long screw thru the wood into the thick bone, look at the big brain hole, about an inch down drill a small hole for your screw,do not over tighten, the wire will wook best, good luck with your skull.

I use braided stainless wire

and attach it like Buck was suggesting. Make a loop in the rear to hang on a hook or heavy picture hanger depending on size/weight of skull.
