Hi:
I just purchased several old mounts which have a smoke smell to them. How can I remove it? Washing or shampooing perhaps?

a mild shampoo and a quick wash. You dont know how or if the mounts were tanned or not, so a fast wash/shampoo and cold water rinse, towel them off, place infront of a fan and use a hair brush to fluff while drying. Check the hair/fur first to make sure it is secure. Be gentle, and work quickly.
you can also try spongeing them down with a light coating white vinager, after it evaporates the smell should be gone. They probably need a washing anyway though
