I have a friend going moose hunting in Maine this fall. He was inquiring as to the proper field measurements to record on a bull moose. Can anyone with expertise mounting moose heads recommend a good set of field measaurements to ensure an accurate head/shoulder mount. I have done whitetail mostly, though I do not intend to mount his moose for him, I would like to be able to help him record the best measurements to be easily interpreted by a professional taxidermist.

well 1st off you want a good eye to nose measurement just like you measure a deer, then a neck circumference behind the ears ,some pictures of the animal always helps to, or nothing at all if the taxidermist he takes it to is on top of his game there shouldn't be any problem's .Large game animals elk, moose, ect. are all different in size, neck, shoulders, mostly .eye to nose is most important . good luck
