do not over paint them. Sart with a fleshy skin color then start misting on some grays and browns. Stop every now and then to wipe paint out of the hair with a damp rag (I use Hydro mist) stop when it looks right. You can then do a real watered down "wash" of burt umber acrylic and water and this will blend everything together. Use this to darken the skin area under the eyes where the wathog normally has a "wet stained area." You can then dust the hog with cement powder or dirt. Add mud if you want with dirt/elmers glue/water mixture. Try a bunch of things and see what works for you. I do not really use a "schedule" for finishing any animal. Look at reference and see what you want to achieve and then figure out how to get there. Warthogs will vary in how gray or pink they will look. Alot of their color comes from all of the dirt on them. There are lots of ways to get similar results. Good luck.
