tongue for slight open mouth elk?

Submitted by Rattus on 5/3/99. ( markp@eoni.com )

I'm mounting a slight open mouth elk on Research's G-544-13. I got some good advice here on painting and finishing the inside of the mouth, but I have one more question. Should I put a tongue in this mount? It is only opened slightly and I'm not sure if the tongue should show at all on this mount. Thanks in advance.

Here's what we do on all of our '' slight '' open mouths. We reproduce a partial tongue,'always', that way when the mount is completed and a light is aimed down the mouth and there is enough space to see a tongue, it's there, if theres not enough space to see a tongue, it's still there! Just like real life. You don't want to have it all 'buttoned' up and then wished you'd of put in a tongue.Better safe than sorry! Have a great evening!
