We have hit this one often, I think you'll get a good explaination under "mammals", look for raccoon skull, and check mammals and beginners. Its in those categories A LOT! Good luck!

A wealth of information awaits you...

This might be a good time to try out a little experiment I have been working on. I have created a page with links to all of the messages about skull preservation and European mounts which are contained in many different categories. I plan to do this on several subjects as time permits, but I thought I would try this one to see what kind of feedback I get before determining the final format.

Bleach a skull ?

This response submitted by Jack Davis on 2/19/1999. ( jldavis@cwv.net )

I have a friend that bleaches skulls.. He just puts them in a large pot, cover it with water and adds bleach . I suggest you have a well venelated area, it does put off some fumes..then just boil it for half an hour or so ( depends on how much matter is still on it ) they turn out pearl white....sometimes the teeth do come out .no problem if you have a hot glue gun....On deer .I suggest to use only salt and water because bleach will discolor the antlers to wherever the water level is .
