I just received the following e-mail from friends. It indicates that there is a new virus to trigger 6/1/01. I found the file in both of my computers and deleted it. I am pasting it for you to read. Several of my friends have found it on their hardrive. Better safe than sorry!
A friend sent me this about a possible virus...I checked my computer and did find the program and deleted it,
so I'd ask that you check, too.

According to my computer guru, this needs to be removed. I'm sorry if it causes problems. Someone else sent it to me, it
didn't originate here.... DebbiDITTO---Dan and Darcie Someone forwarded this to me and I checked and
had the virus even though I
automatically run my virus check every two weeks. Better check your
computers. The instructions are below. I found this virus on my computer after I receivedthe
following e-mail. I just finished the scan and deleted the virus. I couldn'tbelieve it. It doesn't
hurt check it out. I've sent you emails, so you probablyhave it too........It was brought to my
attention TODAY that a virus was on all of our
computers here at work. I do not know how long it has been on our
computers, but Virus software can not detect it. It will not become
active until June 1, 2001, at that point it will become active and will be too
It wipes out all files and folders on the hard drive. This virus travels
thru E-mail and migrates to the 'C:\windows\command' folder. To find it
and get rid of it off of your computer, do the following. June 1st is justaround the corner, so I
suggest you get to it........I can't remember what Ihad for lunch, so I printed out the
instructions. I still can't believe it was inmy computer. We get so many of these unfounded
alerts, but this oneseems to be on the "up & up"........De/Dolores
Go to the "START" button.
Go to "FIND" or "SEARCH"
Go to "FILES & FOLDERS"
Make sure the find box is searching the "C:" drive.
Type in; SULFNBK.EXE
If it finds it, highlight it.
Go to 'File' and delete it.
Close the find Dialog box
Open the Recycle Bin
Find the file and delete it from the Recycle bin
You should be safe.
The bad part is: You need to contact everyone you have sent ANY E-mail to
in the past few months. I do not know how long this has been on our computers.
DO NOT RELY ON YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE. McAFEE NOR NORTON CAN DETECT
IT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT BECOME A VIRUS UNTIL JUNE 1ST. IT WILL BE TO LATE
THEN. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE!

I HAVE IT ON MINE SINCE 4-23-99 BEFORE I BOUGHT IT , I THINK SOME ONES PULLING YOUR LEG
Thanks. Hope I caught it in time. Did a search as you said and found it. Killed the little bugger, too. Hope it wasn't the "make the whol;e computer run like it oughtta" file. So far, it's on 100% of the PC's that have looked for it. 6/1/01 oughtta be a great day in PC land.
Kinda as an afterthought, I figgered I'd look online and see what was being said about this virus. Turns out, it's a ncessary file in Win98 for long file name something or other. DO NOT DELETE THAT FILE. If you already have, run a search online for the file name and you'll get specific directions on how to restore it from your restore CD. Once burned, lesson learned.
it was in mine that was close. Thanks a bunch
look at when it was altered last some ones trying to sabatage you!
I also have this file on my machine. I've check it out and here is the latest from my virus protection folks

As an extra precaution, after deleting EVERYTHING from my hardrive I decided to just play it safe and smash my PC with a hammer. Then I decided it probably wasn't safe to keep the monitor or anything else because they were most likely contaminated but instead of smashing them I decided it was SMARTER to get a tax write-off and I donated them to PETA! Stupid fools, wait til they see what happens to them! Since all of my CD's were in the same room along with extra printer-ink cartridges, manuals, pens, a stapler and my blow-up doll - I also decided to get rid of them and burned them immediately! And, I would suggest everybody else does the same - just to be safe. Also, one last suggestion. Since this has happened to me before (been there...done that!), I've learned to order my new UNinfected PC BEFORE smashing this one. That way you have something to order the new one with. (Sounds simple, but a lot of people I know forget about this simple step!) Oh well, I'll be back in a few days waiting for my new computer...
