My brother sent me two pics of an incredibly huge black bear that was killed recently (during deer season) by a hunter walking out to his stand. The bear reared up 35 yds. away and charged, the hunter emptied his rifle and the bear finally dropped 10 yds. from him. Here are the specs:
weighed approx. 1,600 lbs. and measured 12'6"!
I wish I had a place where you could see these images. This thing is beyond belief...it's head is bigger than a bushel basket and there's a pic of the guy holding it's paw up for the camera and it's as big as a serving platter. The nails are as long as his hand.
The only info as to location is that the bear was killed on Hitchenbrook Island. If anyone would like to see this monster, I'll email the pics.

Hello Wava,
Check your e-mail. I just sent you the photos!
Have a good day,
Dave
Got em. So it IS a grizzly...that makes more sense. Still big.
It is a Brown bear. It was shot on Hitchenbrook Island by a military guy from Elmendorf Air Force base. There is no legal Brown bear hunting on Hitchenbrook Island and the bear was turned in to Fish and Game.
It is a BIG bear but i don't think it's 12'6 and 1600 lbs.
That's all i know!
anyone who would believe in a 1600# blackbear is on drugs
