Carved body

Trace outline of fish, posed as desired, on a heavy piece of paper. Cut out the tracing and transfer to a piece of carving foam. Trace the pattern, cut it out of the foam and carve it until it is the size and shape of the fish.

Paul describes. As good as can be explained on here anyway. However, you really should get a book and/or videos, or take in a seminar to see it in process. A few issues ago Breakthrough Magazine had a good piece by Don Frank on carving a rainbow trout body. If you contact Breakthrough I'm sure they have the back issue for sale.
