The jacks are in the river. A very few of the giant females are being caught too still, but it is pretty early. Type in "Maumee Tackle" in your serach engine box, and go to the "river update" link. They update the fishing every day. I'll be heading for the river in about a week. The non-resident license went up to $40.00(season) and the limit dropped to 3 fish per day, but where else can you get 30 lbs+ of walleyes with 3 fish in a few hours...eh?

you forgot

for the link Doug, Im going the weekend of april 3rd, they should be running by then,We stay at the campground called (schoulder farm)spellings probably wrong but its on the south side of the river about 5 miles east of Waterville they have a creek you can put your boat in. If you see a black 4dr f150 pulling a camo 12ft v-bottom boat thats us. Ryan says 30 lbs of walleye by snagging, its more like a 120lbs by snagging, but we keep the legal ones.I have seen to many people get busted them COs are very sneaky! Doug last year we were killin them with carolina rigs,,a walking sinker 2 glass beads (for sound) a swivel, red floating head,3inch glow-in-dark tail, its alot of tying when you break off but 90% of the time you got a fish on (legally) so it dont matter.. Thanks for the info Dan P

On the fishing report it said the water level was 580 ,what would you call the perfect level, ive never went by this 580 reading i just watched the river at home, its alittle high now at home.I see where the licence went up and the limit went down, does the 15 inch size limit apply in march and april you know..THANKS

the snaggers are a good part of my bread and butter, i take around one hundred of them big sows in every year from the sandusky and the maumee, and hear the stories the guys tell me about how them hogs were legally taken,i know better, but have fun anyways!

Well....

Dan, I don;t know what the 580 refers to. I fish right below the Conant St. bridge in Maumee, and fish from the shore. High or low, warm or cold, the walleyes will come in. I'll try that rig, and thanks for the advice. Floaters have been the ticket for several years. The 15" limit is for throughout the season.
Ryan, yessir a lot of the fish are snagged. I've watched DNR in plain clothes fish right in line with everyone. I heard there were so many violations that the CO's were authorized to take checks or VISA right on the bank....$78.00@ for the fish and you can't keep them(LOL). Like Dan said, you CAN fair catch 3 walleyes, and sometimes pretty fast. I'm retired so I'm going in the middle of the week when the weekend warriors are working.

Snaggers.....you guys are stupid. Deal with not catching fish. I have been there for 5 years and there have been a lot of trips home with 0 fish. If I take them snagging....I leave with a full net and knowing I'm a loser.

I know you aren't calling me a bonner. I'll be at the Maumee River Saturday (4-3-04)...meet up with me...so I can smash people. I'll be the one with the cell phone calling in all the snaggers I find.
