een doing trout for long time but still have trouble with shinkage in the tail base could you tell me how you do the base of your trout tails to keep from having so much shinkage

the tails rays? If so, it usually means you are not cutting out enough of the cartilage and flesh that meets the tail rays. Additionally, I put a bead of white clay where the caudal fin meets the form. That does not set up right away unlike fish filler, and I can smooth it out with my fingers over a day or two to assure a nice smooth junction.
