Shop layout survey

Iam building a new shop and would like your opinions.What is the best thing in your workshop that makes your job easier.Maybe you built something,or layed out your shop a certain way,any ideas will help.Thanks so much.

Lights, lights, lights

and more lights. I wish I had more! Many electric plug ins and multiple air lines are real important to me. A real good exhaust is a must. JOhn C asked this awhile back so there is a real good post on it if you can find it. Maybe JOhn remembers.

open floor

an open floor helps a ton. keep all your work stations and equipment around the walls so you have plenty of space in the middle to move around.

also, it helps to have your outlets about 4 feet up off the floor so you dont have to go crawling behind everything to try and find one. and have lots of them, a minimum of one every 5 feet.

most everything you need can be done and redone,a few can't and i'd consider these two. a set of double doors;garage doors loss to much heat and take to much room that could be used for hanging work and a floor drain;dead ass in the middle of your work area.
