I harvested a buck friday that had his skull busted about a inch and half all the way around the base of the antler. All that was holding the antler and part of the skull was the hide around the base.He was walking good and healthy,,until the arrow hit.Has anyone seen anything like this ,I wouldnt think he could live with his brain exposed to the cold.

The same thing has happened to Cecil.
Shot a deer once that had the same problem. I believe he must have either ran into a tree or injured his pedical in a fight with another deer, or something else that would cause the same trauma. The buck I harvested was in the latter stages of it's life although! His eye sockets were dried up and he smelled extremely foul! I don't think he would have survived too much longer.
