Two cases of chronic wasting disease detected in captive herds in Oneida County NY. A 6yr old doe from one heard and a 4-5 yr old from another were found earlier this week. State officals are trying to determine the source of disease in both animals. There is a link between both heards officals say. State environmental officals are testing wild deer in the largely rural county to determine if the disease has spread beyond captive animals. "We will be sampling a LOT of deer in a limited area in a short period of time," said the director of the state DEC`s Resources division.

I live in Oneida county and know of both locations. I only hope it's not spread to the wild or the NE will be in trouble. This is something you DON'T want to be known for.
Not happy to see CWD show up there in ny, but not supprised. I am in a eradication zone here in Wisconsin so I know how you feel. I have dealt a lot with it here since it was found with working with the state on CWD and now in the zone. If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
