Illinois Taxidermist Question

Submitted by Eric on 4/28/05 at 1:42 PM. ( plstaxidermy@winco.net ) 165.166.123.240

Is it legal to buy an albino deer from another state? There is one on ebay, but I would hate to buy it and mount it and then have it taken away and fined. Believe this or not, I live by a State Park with a DNR officer on duty everyday, and he didn't know taxidermists could buy hides for their own taxidermy purposes. I told him it said it was legal in my handbook, so he checked his and sure enough, there it was. Don't get me wrong, I know they can't know all the laws off the top of their heads, and this one I am talking about is a friend of mine, so I wouldn't bash any DNR officer. That is definately not what I am doing with asking this question. Thanks For The Input, Eric

Eric,

Why not ask your "friend" at the DNR? That should settle the matter.

Make Sure

You get it in writing to protect yourself just for that reason they dont know all laws regarding taxidermy.
Sincerely

Isn't it funny that....

the DNR people say they don't know all of the regulations but when they check you, inspect you, or just snoop around, they "never miss a click."

Every little detail is written up. Makes no diff whos fault. The taxidermist will pay the bills and suffer..
