To ship a box from Monday for Ground Delivery by Thursday to Texas from Indiana is about $12.00. To get the same box there one day earlier is over $60.00! Good thing I insulate my boxes well!

...after a terrible incident with bad customer service and the the fact it cost me over $40 to send a christmas ornament to Canada using them. I sell random things on ebay from time to time and have found using Priority mail is alot better/easier. You can also get free shipping supplies off the postal service website to send your stuff out. Usually everything gets to its proper destination within 2-3 days of sending on a Monday morning. I've even had packages arrive to surrounding states by Tuesday...
I have found that too. I've found that Montana, Texas and other states out west are better sent off USPS Priority Mail. Cost a fortune to ship by Wednesday with UPS while Priority Mail USPS can get it there by Wednesday cheaper. Only drawback is the one out of a hundred times with Priority Mail USPS somebody screws up and the frozen fish doesn't make it until Saturday from Monday! I had to replace a few fish because of that! However overall heavier boxes shipped to the east coast or midwest are cheaper via UPS.
I shipped a bobcat from Texas to Arizona last week. The UPS agent weighed the box and measured it. He said it would be $109.00. I told him he was full of BS. I was going to Fed Ex. He said he would re-weigh it. He came up with $21.00. How in the Sam Heck can he come down from $109.00 to $21.00?
