Submitted by Olaus Lyons on 10/13/05 at 1:17 PM. ( olyons@cabelas.com ) 64.47.54.5

Van Dyke's Supply and Cabela's has suffered a terrible loss . On Wednesday Oct 12 Our Director Jerry Hansen passed away very suddenly and unexpected following surgery on the 11th . Jerry was only 40 years old and is survived by his wife Lisa and daughter Lindsey and son Branden . I know a lot of you have met Jerry at the World and NTA Shows . He was one of the finest guy's I have ever known . He brought me to Van Dyke's and was always there for me . We spent a lot of time on the road together and pheasant hunting and just talking . I know we will continue on the way Jerry would want us to.
But I also know things will never be the same .
The Funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell , South Dakota

Lisa, Lindsey, Branden and the entire Van Dyke's family,

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. As many of you know, David was the Product Specialist at Van Dykes a few years ago. Our family knew the Hansen's well, and this loss is devastating. Our children were in activities together and played together. Jerry's big heart and jovial personality will be sorely missed. Please extend our deepest condolences to Lisa and the kids, as well as the Van Dykes family. May the memories we all hold dear help ease the pain of this tragic loss. The Belangers

My prayers are with the Hansen family and the whole Van Dykes family. No age is a good age to pass but 40 is so sad and far to young to leave so much.

Blessings and kind thoughts.

And I also considered him a good friend and hunting partner. No matter what the situation was Jerry had a way of always making everyone feel at ease and comfortable.

I am still in shock at the loss of such a quality human being.

My prayers are with Jerry's family.

I will miss you my friend and I am thankful that I knew you and shared good times together! You were the best! Save a few pheasants for me in heaven big guy!

With deepest sympathy to Jerry's family and fellow friends for their loss.

Sincerely

Mark Wilson
