Is WASCO Secure?

Submitted by Craig on 3/23/06 at 6:36 PM. ( )

Can anyone tell me if WASCO ordering website is a secure website for using your credit card. I was going to place a order but chickened out when I did not see the lock for a secure website. Good thing I checked that is the only time I have seen something like that. I hope I am wrong.

I don't believe it is a secure site. Better to call your order in.

correct me if i am wrong here...but usually the URL addresses to secure sites and secure "cashier/checkout" areas of different sites will be https:// rather than http:// right?

Secure orders will change the URL

Craig, ( & Big E)
When you order anything on-line check and ensure that the site changes from http to https which designates a secure site. There may be some new secure sites out that I do not know about but if in doubt, call them to make sure. Hope that this helps.

Sercure Sockets Layer (SSL)

Currently they don't use it. SSL is bascially a tool to encrypt data passed between your PC and WASCO's. So what that means to you and I is if someone (a hacker) was listening to the traffic go back and forth from our computer and the WASCO server they could potineally steal your credit card # and other infomation easily if SSL isn't used. If SSL was used it's a much much more difficult for this to happen. You'll know your order is sercure using SSL if the URL (address at the top of the page) starts with "https" and not "http".

I usually call my order in.
