A BIG thank you to the people of this site...

I've done like I am sure many of you have... I have poked around and viewed a few of the things over on the other taxidermy site, though I have not signed up- it was strictly as a guest I guess.

Here are my thoughts, for what it's worth...

I am VERY thankful to be able to frequent this site.

Will the other site be a success? Sure, anything's possible. I am sure there are some good people who are tremendously talented who have signed up and go there. BUT...

Just in the little bit of poking around I have done at the other site, I have noticed that those who seem to go there a lot want to trash what goes on here and talk about how it's great to be away from all the trash that's talked on this site. Does anyone else see the dog chasing the tail here? And I realize by mentioning it I'm doing the same thing, but it struck me as odd.

And it absolutely amazed me how many chose to mention- in a less than friendly manner- the dreaded orange button, or rather the fact that so many over here seem to suggest that others use it. I for one can understand the exasperation some of the vets feel about repeated topics. And while there is the occasional response about the orange button that is offered up a bit caustically, in most cases it is just a friendly suggestion.

And it may be downright anal and not to the liking of all on THIS site, but I really do like to see at least an attempt at grammar, spelling and punctuation. No one's perfect but there is something to be said for at least trying.

The bottom line for me...

This is a terrific, wonderful site. Is it filled with personalities that sometimes conflict? Absolutely. That's going to happen anytime you have a large population, no matter how well most try to play nice. It's always easy to maintain peace with everyone when it's a smaller group.

I don't always agree with everyone's politics on here and I know that many probably feel the same about mine. But the bottom line is that there is such a wealth of knowledge on this site and a lot of very fine people behind that knowledge base. George may lament the demise of the Current Events forum and Cecil may want to send me on a charter fishing trip, but I know if I have a serious deer question, George will always respond or point me in the right direction and if it deals with fish biology, Cecil is always very generous with his knowledge.

Some on the other site were thanking Mr. Rasmussen for what he's started. I want to finish this post by thanking Ken creating this site... and to everyone else for making it what it is.

To one and all... Have a super evening. :-)

I registered over at the other site soon after it went on line. I see no problem with more taxi info out there but after a few visits there, I appreciate this place even more. I do wish there was a resistration process here so many could not hide behind their keyboards and take shots at those they don't agree with.It might not stop all of it--who knows?

Yeah...let's register

Not sure what "the other" site is, not sure I care. I do think we should all speak up with our real names, or shut up.

I think it's easier to be more anonymous on the registration sites.

This site is great for information and i thank ken, the only reason i started my site was to swap idea's so everyone get's better at this right now i feel like most that post on hear have no better thing to do but make trouble for others. Like my gradparents told me if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it. On top of that people are affraid of a good idea that works or just might work.I have apologized to chris barnhardt but yet i still get slammed i wish it to stop i have not done anything to you. I couldn't even sleep last night, i've wanted to do taxidermy since i was eight. Just stop posting my private sites only two are on here and thats for a reason. I never post any bad thing about you because i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but you all have mine.
