After reading Yox in this issue of BT I thought I would pose this question. How ca we expedite the process of getting C.I.T.E.S export permits? This looks like a chance for the N.T.A to step up to the plate and take on this real problem for many of us. Four to five months is the norm for them.I had raised so much cain with that office they quit answering the phone for a week.Actually, they never answer the phone, but this time they were not even let you leave a mssg.AAAARGH!

...it works for me...

Phil, methinks you've developed a "case" for the NTA

With about 2000 members, how much clout do you suppose the NTA has. We are tied to the Safari Club International and Conservation Force, thankfully, for insider information as well as acting on our behalf in lobbying Congress on CITES and ESA issues. Why don't YOU become personally involved in helping the NTA get all taxidermists a better response time. It seems that is an important issue to you and I'm sure it is to many others. You work with them so you could provide invaluable insight. I'm always hearing "somebody should do something". Well, the ball is in your court now. Are YOU a "somebody"?

I have spoken

Have you ever been to DC? Trust me, that's not a pretty idea and who would you talk to if you got there. All the worthless damned politicians are out campaigning. In Delaware, our DNR like most others, critically needs funds. We (hunters and fishermen) suggested that we (1) raise the resident licenses which include 2 does, 2 sub-3 inch bucks from $12 to $14, (2) institute a salt water fishing licences for Delaware waters of the Delaware Bay, and (3) set up a reciprical hunting license fee for non residents. Do you know what we were told and the newspapers published? The legislature found our ideas to be "targeting" tourists who come to our beaches and a very bad idea to implement prior to elections. It was suggested that we REVISIT IT NEXT YEAR in an off election cycle. Now if these Nimrods do that, can you imagine what guys like Harry Reed, Nancy Pelosi, et al would do if TAXIDERMISTS marched on D.C.? They'd likely see us as an untapped source of revenue and implement a federal license program.

Good point George

But you know better. To say ONLY democrats are like this is incorrect and you know it. It's just that the repubs tax you in a more concealed way.

I'm renting a large lighted sign to put in my front yard on the highway before the fall election. It will say:

SEND A MESSAGE TO WASHINGTON D.C.
VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS OF BOTH PARTIES
THEY NO LONGER LISTEN TO US

How about we

go to Arlington Va. to the office of managment authority and bring some coffee and donuts the all the nice people that work in this department of U.S.F.W. use to be able to kiss a little butt and you could get somewhere with these fine folks. Nowdays not so much.
