I was just checking out mounted birds being offered on E-Bay. It really surprises me that the Feds havn't cracked down on stuff that is illegal to sell. I have no problem with captive reared papered mounts but most on there are not papered. Since when have guys been rearing Red-Breasted Mergansers? I thought E-Bay would do a better job policing their site.
Obviously they are either ignorant or don't care just as long as they get their commission.

we have this remark time and time again.E bay is a world wide site hence the WWW birds that are illegal in your state/country may be perfectly legal in another. I have had perfectly legal birds removed from e-bay by do-gooders who think i should not sell them.
It is always buyer beware when it comes to buying items on ebay. As in buying items on here. Take for instant Bears or mountain lions. Here in Calif we cant even buy or sell legally taken ones..go figure. We cant post them on EBay because ebay is based IN Calif therefore must follow Calif rules..If EBay was based in a state that allowed bears/mountain lions then it would allow those auctions. As far as federal law goes if they catch it they will delete the auction.
You can report any auction that violates any rules. :)
Reporting for individual state laws are tricky to deal with since as stated above states differ on their regulations. Federal law is federal law though so that is reportable no matter what state the seller is in.

...Of the people selling illegal birds on Ebay are clueless idiots. They're selling a garage sale finds or grandpa's old bird and have no idea of the laws. Just send them a polite email and tell them its illegal. BUT first make sure they're not in some other country where it's perfectly legal, or you'll be the clueless idiot.
