I am considering opening a part time taxi shop. I have contacted my local municipality and inquired about having a home based business and their concern was waste disposal. I'm not aware of dumping pickle solution, (I use safety acid,) on the ground being a problem. My real question is what type of insurance would I need to carry and is there a perfered carrier that you foks know of. Would it cover situations such as loosing a freezer and everthing you have in it. I lost my freezer last year and lost my son's first deer and my largest buck of my life among many other hides, all my own. That broke my heart. I would never want that to happen to a customers trophy and not be able to compensate them. Is there anything else that I'm missing other than state permit, insurance, tax ID#. I live in Pa. and I know this will open a can of worms with the test takers. Every year I am asked probaby twenty or thirty times to do things for other people and have always refused. I work full time and am not inerested in doing taxi full time but would like to do a small amount starting out and who knows. If it could help me retire a few years sooner or help in the case of a layoff or disability. I would just like to know what it would take to operate a business in expences to make it worthwhile.
