The Master of Masters is awarded to the best of the Master Division pieces. All the state champions (best of categories) from the master division are eligible. The judges discuss & decide which is the very best and you have your master of masters. Hope this helps.
It it picked by masters division participants from the masters division entries.
The judges get together and pick the master of masters in our association not the participants. Participants get to vote on peoples choice.
I am our state's competition chairman. That is how they pick it. Your state may be different Dr. Z.
who picks the masters of masters at the NTA convention? how many entries were there at Billings?
when you don't even know what state he's in?
There is no "Master of Masters" award given at the NTA convention. It is a World Taxidermy Championships® title. The NTA has a "Master's Choice" award.
The Master of Masters Invitational is only open to current or former World Taxidermy Championships judges, alternate judges, former winners of a Best In World title or First Place Masters Division winners.
All mannikins used in this division must be originally sculpted, wrapped or carved by the competitor. Altered or unaltered commercial mannikins are not allowed, unless originally sculpted by the competitor.
The Master of Masters is judged by a secret ballot among the competitors in the Master Division in the regular competition. The entries receiving the highest number of votes will win the top three awards.
But I know it is picked by the eligible competitors.I doubt if many state assns. have a master of masters since it is a world show thing.
has their own awards system.I find it a little repatitious to have your judges pick the best piece out of all the B.O.C winners, where I come from that is "judges choice best of show". The big mac daddy of awards in my opinion.
MASTERS CHOICE AWARD-Limited to the judges chosen for the current NTA annual competition, the competition judging chairman, operation chairman and their assistant chairmen. Entries in this division are $35.00. Selected by the voting of the registered convention members. Ballots are included in registration packets and ballot box is located in the competition room. There was only one entry in Billings.
Since Oklahoma is not affiliated with the NTA, they govern there own competition rules. We have a best amateur award, a best professional award, and Master of Masters award. Each is cussed and discussed among the judges and chosen. Having the participates vote on a Best Masters award would make it a people's choice award. We do have this award, but all participants are eligible and all registered persons are eligible to vote. Our Master of Masters goes to whom the judges deem best of the master division winners. Judge's Choice can go to any eligible professional or master. But you are correct, most of the time our Master of Masters wins the Judge's Choice also. (Normally, the piece is that damn good - 2-Time North American Champion Bill Newman won it this year) Every show is different. I am pretty sure Texas does the same thing, because that is where we got the idea for the award. NTA affiliates are supposed to use NTA competition rules as a guideline. Their Masters Choice is a completely different award. Hopefully, this clears things up on my state.
