Time to say goodby

Submitted by Bob C on 10/31/1998. ( bobswildlife@webtv.net )

To All, In a recent letter written by (name withheld) I was accused of reporting to Jonas Bros. that a product of theres was being trashed. Well I'm not going to defend myself to that person but I will defend myself to every body else.I didn't and wouldn't do something like that.If you'd like you can ask Jonas your selves. This person thinks I have a grudge against him and thats why I supposedly did this. A grudge for WHAT? Any way when some one attacks me like he did without checking first , I dont like it nor do I have to put up with it. I really enjoyed helping those who needed it.I took a lot of time out of my day to do so.So due to the unfounded accusations , its time to say GOOD BY. Bob C

This should have been unnecessary!!

I seriously find fault with accusations, without substantiation. If not substantiated - Then we should not find ourselves over-reacting. But what bothers me most, is that we're finding ourselves sniping at each other here in the Forum. Let's confine that type of tasteless talk to our E-Mail, and get on with the business that WASCO intended this Forum for - namely EDUCATION!

In Support of................

I do not want to go into the details as to why this letter from Bob Coughlin appeared in this Forum. Except to say, that I as an individual do not think he is the type of person, that has been implied. Obviously, most of you already know that Bob is a good friend of mine, but there are reasons for him being my friend. First of all he is a very giving person, always there to offer help when needed, and particularly a friend to people new to Taxidermy. Without sometimes even a Thank You, he has over-extended himself to help others. We need more Bob Coughlins! As an Association Director in both the United New York State and Connecticut Association of Taxidermists, Bob has been one of those tireless, always reliable, working behind the scenes, unsung heros of the Convention. He simply comes through! Even more amazingly - with no complaints!! Yes, he uses my products, and has been willing to share his experiences with them with others, but he has never expected any special considerations for his support. He still pays the same price you do for our products. Does he experiment? Yes, and in that respect I've always considered his final opinion of our experimental products, very honest! When I send out free samples of something new to be tested in the field - Bob is the type of person I use. Some of these products never make it to our pricelist! But he and many others like him, are the types of people I depend upon to give me an honest opinion. Good, bad, or needs more work! - I want to know. So in that sense, even I depend on him for his opinions. And I like his general enthusiasm for Taxidermy. I certainly do not think he is the type of person that deserves to be critisized over the internet for something which has never even been confirmed! And I certainly do not want to see people like himself being intimidated to the point of leaving the "Forum".

Bob where gonna miss you man

There is not a need for such statments to anyone. I have been on the receiving end of a few too. Bob has put out so good info on this forum and will be missed. In all organizations thhere are the doer's and the I will set on my ass and take credit for a job well done people. Bob is a do'er one of the worker bees that get little award for his hard work. Wake up people we need everyone on a even playing field in this industry, there are to many anti-hunters for us to fight, TOGATHER. we survive, individually we die. If your not a team player find a different industry, go make pin cushions, or yard art. I have been very heavy into taxidermy for twenty years and will be in it for twenty more. Someone owes Bob a apoligie. John C.

To give you an idea of what kind of guy we're talking about, Bob swings by my studio every couple weeks or so to give me a much needed hand with things here. Sometimes it's good to just have another taxidermist to gab with while you work, but he's really doing things, not just visiting. Oh, did I mention that Bob lives 3 1/2 hours from me? Yeah, and he's not there to try to squeeze freebe's from me, either. OK, maybe once in a while... Anyway, maybe he'll mis speak (like the rest of us) and maybe he doesn't have the thick skin that others do, but he is welcome in my studio and my home, and is a welcome expert on this forum. Does anybody know how many times he's been awarded the Best All Around trophy in 3 different states in the last couple of years? 'nuff said. ...oh and to the local folks who read this, YES, I still do the work here at my place. Got that one before it even started!
