I have a Fisher I been trying to mount. But the form is to big. It will not fit around. I cut about 2 inches out of the middle but did not gain anything. What should I do? Thank you for any help.P.S. This is my first bigger mammal.
whenever you modify a form, you should make sure you do it in the right way. you should only remove length if your skin's length is too short for your form. if it wont fit around, then girth is the problem.
if the legs look about right, and the head fits, then you can modify the body---take a girth measurement on your skin, then on the body, the difference between the two is what you need to remove. remove a wedge down the backbone area of the form all the way to the base of the skull. (if your girth difference is 1 inch, your wedge should be 1/2 inch thick---that would be 1/2 inch on top of the form and 1/2 inch on the belly of the form = 1 inch total girth removed)glue your form back together and re-shape with a file if necessary.
if the head and legs also look tight, then save the effort and just buy a properly sized body or mount the old-fashioned way.
If it comes to that, re-post your question and I'll give more details.
good Luck
