whats the best way to de-bone a Squirrel tail or do u even have to do it? thanks for any info!
Matt,
Here's the way I do it. I skin the tail down as far as I can with a scalpel. Then I take an old clothespin(not the type with the spring) and slip it over the the bone and slide it upto the skin. Next pull on the bone with one hand and pull the clothespin the other way. If done correctly the bone will pop right out. It takes doing a couple to get the hang of it, but it is really a simple thing to do. I've done so many of them that I rarely use a clothespin anymore except on the harder ones. I most usually can just pop them out with my hands.
As far as taking out the bone, I say you should definately take it out. You will have a fuller and fluffier tail if you do.
