Best bet is freeze the thing. Pull it out the morning you are going skin it. Watch the speciman as it is thawing. As it gets to the stage that the skin is free but the carcass is still froze, start skinning. The "Bad " glands will be froze and you will have a far better chance of no smell. You still have to be carefull but this helps alot. Good luck.

sacs

If its not for competition mounting, you can always take a fresh sharp scalpel blade and cut a ring around the anus/gland area, do not cut any deeper than the skin and the sharp blade keeps you from needlessly cutting too much. This way the bad area is seperated, and you will not accidently cut in when skinning later. Do be careful to not apply pressure to the area or the glands will ooze. Its a clear yellow liquid with an oily sort of look. I've also heard of inserting a syringe into the sacs to extract the stuff, but when I tried it it made a stinky mess anyway. I think your best bet is to buy skunks from Bob Wendt, the ones wheres he's removed all the nasties for you. LOL

Under water?

Can't say that I have done it myself, but have heard others say they do it underwater. Fill up a big sink with clear water and have at it.
