I got a tanned Coyote that is tube skinned. Is it possible to mount it without making any kind of cut?
Only if you plan on slipping it over a fence post. And if there is I'd like to know about it. Otherwise you may find it easier to make a dorsal incision, cut the head off your form, mount the head, and slip the skin on your mannikin like putting on your pants. Depending on the pose of the mannikin, you may have to cut one or more of the legs off the mannikin and bondo them back on as well, once the skin is on it.
Almost ANY tube skinned animal can be mounted. I will give the abridged version and if you do not understand, sorry. Your form will probably be shipped cut in half, if not do it, and cut off the head. Roll down the skin to the front legs. Insert the front half of the form. Bondo on the back half. Insert the head through the mouth and bondo on. I have mounted groundhogs, coyotes, foxes, cougars, jackals and many others this way. Good Luck!
You can also leave the head on but cut the front legs off the form and install them in the skin first and then slide over the head and down the body.The front legs can be reattached a number of different ways.( Bondo, apoxie sculp , screws etc.)
Any experienced taxidermist can mount a tube skinned, and sometimes
its much faster.
There IS a way!
please ,please forgive me but it's like having a baby.once the
head and feet or arms are in or out the rest just slids on or
out. I Think that's how you do it.{lol}
ok, how many beers did YOU have?
I'll wait till you give birth and THEN let you relay to me "how it just slips out"! LOL Mind you I've only had three, (babies not beers) and I find not an ants a$$ worth of comparison to mounting a tube skinned coyote to spitting out an avocado seed thru a drinking straw. They both benefit with relief cuts though.
