Bear Claws

Submitted by Mike C. on 6/27/01. ( ) 169.207.67.232

I just got my bear hide back from the tanner. All the claws are badly damaged, mostly on the bottom edges.

I am considering sanding or filing them smooth, then possibly polishing them to even out the finish.

Any comments or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike C.

I have no idea the extent of the damage by your definition. You can file and sand them to remove the scars. The claws can be finished just like a lady's nails. You can polish them with jeweler's (french) rouge and a buffer head on a dremel or foredom tool, if you desire. Claws and fingernails are basically the same material.

As much as I respect the CUR, I'm going to have to go against him on this one. There IS a difference! My ex-wife had claws!:) ...Rick
