i boiled my black buck horns to remove the core and then froze until i could bug proof them now they wont go all the way back on they stop about 1 inch from where they should be
thanks in advance
Hello Aaron,
They shrunk on ya! After boiling and removing the horn from the core, clean them off real good, removing the skin covering the core. Cut the core, leaving only 3-4 inches of bone on the core. Place the horn dack onto the core till dried. This will prevent the bases of the horn from shrinking up like that on ya.Once dried, you can remove the horn off the core and do what you need to do to bug proof. Then bondo or epoxie the horn back onto the core.
At this point, I think I might resoak the base of the horns for a few hours and see if you cant get them to go back on. It should soften the bases up for you.
Have a great day,
Dave
