I read something about useing latex caulk for hide paste.Has anyone used this before?Does it work well?I have DAP all purpose painters acrylic latex calk and was going to try it with this.Do I just rough the form up and apply the caulk?Would this work on Dry preserve critters as well as tanned skins? Thanks for any help in advance.

Latex caulk will work, but.......

I have used latex caulk for hide paste on several specimens and it works fairly well. Currently, the only specimens I use caulk on is fish and it works great. I prefer Buckeye hidepaste supreme on all other specimens. The problems associated with drumming usually have more to do more with improper shaving/tanning and not getting the skin adjusted properly. Caulk will work, but I would suggest one of the better commercial hide paste available. I think it will give you an added security. Good luck.

polytranspar water base hide paste

Patrick,
save yourself some trouble and just buy premade hide paste......works great on DP hides and long as you get off all the wax from the forms first with lacquir thinner and scratch up the form before applying you'll have no problems.
