How does a person make the snarling look (winkles on top of the muzzle) of a bear rug shell? Also I cut a hole in the top of the bears muzzle while I was fleshing it on the fleshing machine. What is the best way to sew it. What is the hidden stich and how do I do it.
Thank you for any help.

Or is it winkels= wink wink!
Ok back to this. What you can do is form the groves in the form by either making them in deaper than what's there. Just go an 1/16 or less, this will help. Or you can take your scuplt-all etc, and make them in the form. Use a good hide paste and press in the skin to form those snarls.
As to what to use to sew try fire-line made by Berkly. Yo want to sew this from the flesh side. Use a small needle and keep the stitches close. The other way you can do this is by using a good paste like epo-grip and just pin it together till is sets up. Once set it wont pull apart. If you have some skin showing try burnt umber to cover the skin.
Hi Shannon,
Try the rugshells from Research Mannikins (Mike Frazier)the wrinkles are already molded in, I like to deepen them a bit But I like the expression.
Good Luck

I use zap a gap ,apply to inside skin edges, push skin together hold till dry. This only takes second. Super glue works well also ,its cheaper. Hope this helps.
