Color of Bobcats nose?

Submitted by Scott on 1/17/02. ( sschuh@grapevine.net ) 216.117.39.12

I know this sounds stupid but I am all done with a bobcat except for the nose paint and know the nose has a orange tint to it.It isn't just pink.Just wondering what you guys do or what I should do to make it accurate.I tried to add a hint of orange to the pink but can't get it right. Thank you in advance!

I use oil paint! I mix up a pink then darken it up with a touch of burnt umber. This turns is a brownish - purple color. This is the method that I use, it works for me. Hope that it will work for you.

Scott,
I'm not sure if your using an air brush or not...
I white out the entire nose pad with Off White. Then mist in a LITTLE Flesh. Next, use Burnt Umber for the "orangish" coloration. You can make it light or dark, bobcat's noses run the color spectrum according to my references. After that, tone it down a bit with some Dark Brown misted from a good distance (mostly used as a blender). Darken the inside of the nostrils a little with Dark Brown and highlight the faint stripe that runs across the top of the nose pad (where the nose pad meets the hair). Gloss or Satin finish. Hope that helps.
