Hello all,
Do you skin the faces of your creatures through the mouth?
I used to do it the hard way, skinning cased and working the skin off from the back forwards .. without doing any cuts through the mouth first. I often noticed missing eyelid borders and chunks out of the lower lip.
Now I start all of my skinning by grasping the upper lip right under the nose, and cutting the facial skin loose to the base of the eyes, and down to the thyoid cartilage (neck). I use a sharp scalpel. The skinning takes approx. 5-10 minutes on a small rodent. It is MUCH easier and I have suffered no loss of eyelid or lower lip since - in fact I have been able to turn out a perfect set of split lips!
Just thought I'd share, and see if anyone else has similar success doing the facial prep skinning work this way.
Why can't you use "ear openers" to turn ears? (I don't turn the ears of the animals I skin, since they are so small; this is just a question)
