lifesize black bear, too tough for beginner?

Submitted by Eric on 1/27/02. ( www.Magee@Pathway.net ) 64.210.52.79

I'm a beginner that has mounted 2 fox and 4 gameheads. Do you think that a lifesize blackbear would be too big of an undertaking at this stage in my career?
Thanks, Eric

If the reason you are are doing taxidermy is for fun then their is no limitation on what is too hard or easy, just do it as best you can and have fun. As for a black bear the long hair will help hide some mistakes. One of my first lifesize mounts was a bear and it turned out great. Just a note on my personal preference, after mounting many lifesize bears the ones that I find look best are the ones that display the long back hair not the thin belly hair(example: standing on all fours or standing upright looking back over his shoulder), after all that is what you shot him for in the first place for right?

No Eric

Not too tough for a beginner that has 2 lifesize fox under their belt. It's just bigger. You'll find lots of help on this in the archives too.....you can do it! I think we'll be hearing from you again once you start it also!

Good luck!
